1

Advocate for Enhanced Flood Alert Integration

Persuade the Environment Agency (EA) to expand the scope of its new flood alert platform to include real-time notifications of sewage spills from Thames Water sewage treatment works (STWs), improving public safety and transparency.

2

Promote Citizen Science Integration

Influence Decision Makers in the EA that incorporating local Citizen Science groups into water quality monitoring frameworks can reduce costs, enhance data coverage, and foster stronger community engagement—without compromising scientific rigour.

3

Reframe National Terminology for Inclusivity

Engage with DEFRA and key stakeholders to shift language from “Bathers” and “Bathing Water Status” to the more inclusive and representative terms “Water Recreational Users” and “Recreational Water Status,” better reflecting the broad spectrum of river users beyond traditional swimmers.
